About Anna Macedo, Yoga Teacher

I’m Anna Macedo, an Iyengar Yoga teacher certified to level 3, specialising in private one-to-one yoga in Brighton and Hove, as well as live online one-to-one yoga. I’m also a qualified school teacher, which strongly influences how I teach yoga. I’ve been teaching yoga since 1998, and my work is shaped by extensive training, ongoing professional development, and many years of experience teaching a wide range of people.

My Yoga Experience and Background

I’m certified as an Iyengar Yoga teacher at Level 3. My formal yoga training has spanned 30 years and includes more than 1000 hours of study, alongside over 4000 hours of teaching experience. In 2010, I spent a month studying yoga with the Iyengar family in Pune, India. I continue to study with senior yoga teachers in the UK and to take part in ongoing professional development. Before training as a yoga teacher, I qualified as a school teacher. That background shapes my clear, structured, and supportive approach to teaching yoga.

My Teaching Approach to Yoga

My yoga teaching focuses on learning rather than simply doing. I aim to help students understand how to practise yoga safely and intelligently, with steady progression. Yoga sessions are calm, precise, and tailored to the individual, supporting confidence, awareness, and long-term wellbeing.

I’m a member of Iyengar Yoga UK and hold the Iyengar Certification Mark to teach at the higher level 3.  I work to recognised Iyengar professional standards, maintain ongoing professional development, and place a strong emphasis on care, responsibility, and safety in yoga teaching.
