Iyengar Yoga Teacher In Hove, Brighton, Horsham and Sussex
Hello, my name is Anna Macedo, and I’m a qualified Iyengar Yoga Teacher in Hove, Brighton, Horsham, Sussex, East Sussex and West Sussex. I am also a qualified school teacher (BA Hons PGCE). I teach Private Yoga (Yoga at Home, One to One Yoga, Online Yoga) and Yoga Classes in Hove, Brighton and Horsham.
I’ve been a qualified Iyengar Yoga Teacher since 1998. In 2010 I spent a month studying with the Iyengar family in Pune, India. In 2012 I passed the Junior Intermediate Level 3 Iyengar Yoga Teaching Assessment. My formal training has taken over 1000 hours, and I have over 4000 hours of teaching experience. I continue to work and learn with senior teachers in England.
Private Yoga With A Qualified Iyengar Yoga Teacher
I have a higher-level certification as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher, allowing me to teach One to One Yoga. These Private Yoga Classes are ideal if you want a One to One Yoga Session in your home. This helps people suffering from depression or recovering from illness, or unable to attend a Yoga Class. I also teach One to One Yoga Online via Skype, FaceTime (and Zoom).
Yoga Classes With A Qualified Iyengar Yoga Teacher
My Yoga Classes focus on learning rather than simply ‘doing’. Ex-dancers and ex-gymnasts seem to be able to ‘just do it’. For the rest of us, it is about finding a healthy action for us as individuals, so we need to work more mindfully. I like to create a light-hearted atmosphere in class, with plenty of humour to encourage students to challenge their habitual way of doing things. I also aim to encourage people to develop a home practice, so I make Pinterest practice boards for my students. I’m constantly reviewing each student’s progress, and I teach in a way to encourage students to remember poses. I have found that this makes them feel more confident to practice at home, thereby seeing more significant improvements.
Professional Iyengar Yoga Teacher In Hove, Brighton and Horsham
I naturally love teaching Yoga, which I hope is evident in my Yoga Classes, Yoga Workshops, and One To One Yoga Lessons. I see myself as a ‘Professional Yoga Teacher’. What does that mean? Well, for me, it means a lot of small things that all add up. I take my responsibilities as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher very seriously: I carefully adhere to my professional body’s guidance. I undertake ongoing professional development. It also means I take great care as a teacher to take care of my students and to ensure their individual improvement regardless of their level. This takes careful class planning to allow progression over time. I have a natural love of teaching that I hope is evident in my Yoga Classes, Yoga Workshops and Yoga One to Ones. Please contact me here for more information about Iyengar Yoga in Horsham, West Sussex.
I am a member of the IY (UK). I have been an IY(UK) Executive Council member and continue to be actively involved in the Yoga community. I hold the Iyengar Certification Mark and am fully insured through the IY(UK). I am a Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) Level 3 Instructor.
“Having avoided all sports at school and generally been a ‘couch potato’, I found Yoga difficult, to begin with. So I was drawn to becoming an Iyengar Yoga Teacher as it was not just for the naturally fit and supple. I had skeletal problems that would not respond to conventional treatment. Yoga helped from my very first class. Since then, I have used Yoga to help rehabilitate myself after both serious illness and surgery. I feel that coming to terms with my physical limitations has made me an understanding and empathetic teacher.”
