Wow it was hard to find a good image of this pose to use on my blog!

This is a great pose for massaging the knees, opening the front of the body and massaging the abdomen.  But the photos online show a lot of people (usually very bendy people) simply overarching their lower backs and straining their throats!  In my classes this week I’ll be teaching people how to carefully open up the backs of their knees and spread their thighs to get a lovely massage.  (Knees and ribcage should stay on the floor, unlike most of those dodgy photos I mentioned!)  The sacrum presses down and the buttocks spread.  The belly is extended and toned. The shoulders are drawn back so we can breathe across the top of the chest.  It really is a most excellent asana, as I hope you will discover.
